I have been waiting to read about the Canadian Win at this year's Coptic Ryder Cup - but it looks like Mark has forgotten how to use a computer and update the blog. Here is the Update for you all.
CANADA WINS!!!
Mark chokes in the final match and does not get the Match Win the USA needed to win the Cup!!!
I guess the count is still at 1 for the number of Canadians he screwed in the past month!!!!! (thx to an unnamed source for the last line).

Countdown to an ass whopping
Friends, Countrymen and our counterparts from Canadia.
In less than 3 days we will be representing our countries in a friendly competition on the glorious golf courses of North Michigan. OK. . . . . . . Sorry Canada, don't take the ass whopping that you will be receiving personal. . . . . its just a reminder of your inferior standing in the game of life. . . . . .
Here is a tenative schedule for the weekend
Friday Night. . . 2 pm - 7 pm Check-in and practice round. (Anyone wanting to play a practice round on friday afternoon, please contact the pro shop for Cedar River to schedule a tee time) The cost is not included as part of the package but there is a special rate of $45. Everyone MUST check in at the Summit Hotel . . . even if you are staying at the house which is about 10 minutes away. You will receive golf vouchers and the meal vouchers when you check in
7pm - 11pm Meet at the house, BBQ, introduction, and pairings.
Saturday Morning. . . . . . The Lakeside Dining room at the Summit will have breakfast beginning from 6:30 (they may have a breakfast buffet). All packages include two $10 vouchers to be used for food at the resort.
8:00 ARRIVE AT CEDAR RIVER READY TO PLAY at 8:30. . . . . We have tee times starting at 8:40am on Saturday morning at Cedar River (approx a 5 min drive from the Summit hotel or the house at Schuss Mountain). There is a practice facility, driving range and putting green, at Cedar River. ARRIVE EARLY AND BE READY TO PLAY. . . WE CAN NOT HAVE 6 HOUR ROUNDS ANYMORE. . . . the staff at the golf course is going to instruct you to skip holes if you do not keep up with the pace of play. PLAY READY GOLF. . . This is a scramble format. . . . .accept loosing a lot of balls. We have tee times from 8:40 to 9:40 the first group should finish no later than 1:20 and the last group should finish no later than 2:20
1:45 - 3:00 MEET AT CEDAR RIVER TO UPDATE SCORES. . . . . . .
3:30 - 4:30 Singles Matches at the Legend (the clubhouse for the Legend is located right outside the summit hotel. 9 hole singles match play. . . you can play as many holes as you want, the competition is only based on the first 9 holes. This award is in memory of Nader Hafzalla and will be given to the player who scores the least amount of points for his team. In Nader's two year reign on the Young Coptic Ryder Cup squad, he was unable to gain a single point but looked good doing it. Therefore, the winner will receive the Plaid Jacket which will be passed on for years to come.

Comcast charged me 89.15 for the equipment they picked up. The bill said it was "Due upon receipt"--no pay by date. I called twice to confirm they received the box and remote. Each time the CSR said yes.

Comcast charged me 89.15 for the equipment they picked up. The bill said it was "Due upon receipt"--no pay by date. I called twice to confirm they received the box and remote. Each time the CSR said yes.
Next thing you know, I get a notice from a credit agency for the amount of 89.15. Please help. I don't want to deal with this for the next year.

Canadians in training...
I've discovered that the Canadians have taken a page out of last year's older team playbook. Yes, they have a theme song. But not just one...a collection if you will. Oh the humanity...and cheesy music.

DONKEYS WHO CAN NOT FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS
Today is April 9, 2008, and for nearly 2 months I have been reminding everyone to make their deposit for the Ryder Cup. So this morning I call Shanty Creek to see who has made their deposit. Much to my surprise, almost everyone made the deposit except for THREE. The funny thing is I sent an email to the guys from Detroit reminding them to make the deposit a couple of weeks ago and two of these monkeys replied to the email with sarcastic questions regarding my upcoming wedding but neither of them took the two minutes to call shanty creek and make the deposit.

It looks like we will have Canada v. US for the 4th annual Ryder Cup. The Canadian resprentative John Iskander has informed me that there are 8-10 confirmed golfers with a possibility of 2 more. It appears that from the US side we will have between 10-12 golfers.
At this point I need rooming preferences (hotel room vs. house) and who you want to room with if you choose the hotel, to finalize things with Shanty Creek. The final price will be between $195-$200 depending on the final number of golfers. If you don't respond, I will assume that you don't care and will decide on my own. The deadline is Friday. . .either leave a comment or send me an email.
I have made tee times for both mornings at Cedar River and for Saturday afternoon for the Legend. I personally thought that Cedar River was a superior course to the Legend and preferred to play it twice. For those that want to play the Legend, you can play it on saturday afternoon. If this is objectionable, please provide feedback.
Shanty Creek can provide a large grill at the house for us for a fee of $50 per day. I think this is a good idea. . feel free to object . . . the majority wins. . . .provide feedback. . .

It looks like we are going back to site of the First Annual Ryder Cup in 2005 for the 2008 edition. Shanty Creek resort has offered the best package. It is as follows:
2 nights lodging, one large house (5 bedrooms) on the Schuss Mountain Golf Course for up to 12 guys and the remaining guys in hotel rooms at the Lodge. Each guy will have his own bed.
2 days of unlimited golf on any of the courses (Legend, Cedar River, Shanty Creek, or Schuss Mountain)
Free range balls, etc,
$20 of food vouchers. There is a breakfast buffet for $10 per person that is real good.
Free transportation within the resort
Cost per person approx $195
That means we will be going back to the scene of the infamous PROMGATE at the 18th hole of Cedar River and the site of Billy Ersan's famous 2 foot putt on the 18th hole of the Legend to win his match and create a tie for the first annual Coptic Ryder Cup. OK . . he missed the putt. . . but this year he will drain it

Update - Please provide comments
Based on the response to the poll, the Ryder Cup will be held on May 30 - June 1, 2008. The format will be US v. Canada if there is enough Canadians (if not looks like its young v. old) The location is up in the air at this point due to Treetops change of price and Boyne's change of price and the need to drive approx 1/2 hour to each course.
Treetops has changed their prices for that weekend to their peak season rates. Therefore for Hotel rooms ONLY with 2 round of golf without any meals the price is $325. The courses or nice but I do not think they are worth that much.
Boyne. Boyne has also slightly increased their prices this week (they were going to give us 2007 prices last week). The biggest problem with Boyne is the driving that we will have to do to all the courses. The prices for Boyne will be approx $240-$250 per person for 2 days of unlimited golfing, 2 breakfast buffets, 2 nights lodging in condos (older condos), and a $25 voucher for the casino nearby). The biggest drawback for Boyne is the courses are very far apart from each other (almost 45 minutes from Boyne Mountain to Boyne Highland). Based on previous experience, this is not conducive to the format that we have.
A third choice is Otsego Club. www.otsegoclub.com

They are offering a package that includes 2 rounds (one of the tribute and one of Black Forest), lodging (one large condo and a bunch of hotel rooms) a dinner (order from the menu up to $30) for $270 per person. 2008 Coptic Ryder Cup
Gentlemen:
The time has come to start planning the Fourth Coptic Ryder Cup. Yes, I know. . . it's more than 4 months away but I am tired of dealing with wedding stuff and thinking about golf is the only thing that will keep me from loosing it completely. With that being said, several decisions need to be made with regards to the 2008 tournament.
1. When should be schedule it? I have tentatively scheduled it for May 30 - June 1, 2008. This is the weekend after Memorial Day in the US and two weekends after Victoria Day in Canada. The benefit to this is that most courses are still offering decent packages (most raise their rates the following weekend). The weekend after is also a possibility June 6-8, 2008?
2. Where should we go? We could go back to one of the ones we've played before (Shanty Creek, The Chief, or A-Ga-Ming) or we could do to a new place (Boyne or Treetops). I have called both Boyne and Treetops. Boyne is the better bargin $220 (unlimited golf, breakfast buffet on sat. and sun. lodging in hotel rooms) we can play any of the courses except for Bay Harbor. Several of us have played these courses and the Donald Ross and Crooked Tree are very nice courses. The web site is www.boyne.com. Treetops is a great golf resort. . The package for treetops is $225 (2 rounds of golf and lodging in hotel rooms). Both have condos available for approx 30 more per person. The lodging at Boyne will be nicer than the lodging at treetops. Neither will be as nice as the condos from A-Ga-Ming or at the Chief. The one problem with Boyne is that the courses are a 20 - 30 minute drive from where we are staying. I personally have no problem with going back to any of the three that we played before (Shanty Creek, The Chief, and A-Ga-Ming). They will all give us very good deals. . .
3. Format? The guys from Canada have been wanting to make this a Canada v. US competition.
The time has come to start planning the Fourth Coptic Ryder Cup. Yes, I know. . . it's more than 4 months away but I am tired of dealing with wedding stuff and thinking about golf is the only thing that will keep me from loosing it completely. With that being said, several decisions need to be made with regards to the 2008 tournament.
1. When should be schedule it? I have tentatively scheduled it for May 30 - June 1, 2008. This is the weekend after Memorial Day in the US and two weekends after Victoria Day in Canada. The benefit to this is that most courses are still offering decent packages (most raise their rates the following weekend). The weekend after is also a possibility June 6-8, 2008?
2. Where should we go? We could go back to one of the ones we've played before (Shanty Creek, The Chief, or A-Ga-Ming) or we could do to a new place (Boyne or Treetops).
